I don not agree with the statement that Blogger blogs are in anyway favored by Google and drw more traffic that wordpress.com blogs do. Neither do I buy into the thinking that wordpress.com blogs are favored by Google and get more traffic than blogspot blogs do.

I have both and I know from experience that those who make these statements, as well as, those who have a poor command of spelling and who type in all capital letters are newbies to the blogosphere. Typing in all capitals on the internet is considered to be equivalent to SHOUTING into someone's face and only newbies do this.

I aslo have some experience with search engine optimization and how to structure your blog and posts to improve search engine results. If your are interested, you can find blog posts on my blog that are on this subject.

At wordpress.com we do not have access to our meta data files and cannot edit our templates. You can confirm this in the FAQs. This is because at wordpress.com we blog on a shared multi-user platfrom and if one person could edit then all blogs with the same theme wold be likewise affected.

If a blogger is intending to monetize their blog and does not qualify for a VIP account then wordpress.com does not allow blogger initiated advertising. They already run Google adsense ads on our fee hosted blogs and only one account is allowed on a blog. That is why make money bloggers choose Blogger. http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/12/08/adsense/

Also note that prior to the 2.5 upgrade wordpress.com and Blogger blogs were both quite easy to learn how to blog on. Since the upgrade Blogger blogs are now easier to learn how to blog on and they have features that are free that we wordpress.com bloggers have to pay for upgrades to get.

Lastly I would draw your attention to the fact that if a blogger is intending to move from a free hosted wordpress.com blog to a self hosted wordpress.org installation then the best time to do that is as early as possible. The posts we write on wordpress.com blogs have a url that the page rank applies to when we move that url is gone and the page rank evaporates too unless we purchase and pay for domain mapping every year. http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2008/06/26/how-and-why-to-get-your-own-domain/

Best wishes for better blogging. :)

Our blogs do extremely well on Google, so I would say it is a myth as well. I've never noticed a Blogger blog ranking better than any other blog just because it is a Blogger blog, but I suppose anything is possible. However, I think it still boils down to primarily how well they're optimized and what sort of content they have.
